DESCRIPTION:***POSTPONED***\nUnfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances\, this event had to be postponed at the last minute. Once we reschedule the event\, we will update this page and also send out an email to all SNAFU members with the details. Sorry for the inconvenience.  \nTLDR; 2pm mead\, 3pm beer.  Bring cat M3-M4 mead if you like.  Bring cat 18 & 21 beer if you like.  Bring food if you like.  Nothing is required to bring. \nIt’s our 4th and penultimate BJCP mead style study session.  By now you should have a decent handle on carb/sweetness/booze levels of mead.  If not\, no worries\, we’ll help you get up to speed. \n2:00PM \nThe main event of this mead meet is a BJCP cat M3-M4 mashup.  These are spiced\, fruited and spiced\, and specialty meads that do not fit neatly into M1 or M2.  Here we’ll talk about balance\, intensity\, and how age and ABV play with specialty ingredients.  We’ll do a scoresheet run through focusing a little more deeply on navigating the dreaded “Overall Impression” section. \nThen we’ll set a day\, time\, and place for the final.  We’re capping off the 2023-24 mead extravaganza with a mead making day. \n3:00PM \nBeer – Oh yeah\, we also occasionally do beer at SNAFU.  Here’s what’s on deck.  Scoresheet critiques\, head count for the year\, and what we want out of the upcoming classes.  Bring cats 18 and/or 21 if you have them = American Blonde\, American Pale Ale\, IPA. \nGeneral judging tips\, tricks\, hacks will be offered\, time permitting. \nWe’ll wrap it up with an open session including random ethanol fueled ramblings.  What are we doing?  Why should we deeply evaluate?  How do we encapsulate the true nature of a thing?  Can we ever really know anything?  If not\, is everything we think we know\, at best\, tangential? \n  \nThis event will be held at James Gurdison’s house. If you don’t already have his address\, please reach out to any of the SNAFU officers to get it.  \nFAQ/House Rules \nI’m starting a tradition that hopefully will get some traction in the club.  By making expectations openly known\, hopefully it makes it a little easier for everyone to relax and have fun.  If you think it’s a good idea\, maybe think of integrating some of your own rules on your next SNAFU shin dig.  Here’s ours – \nHouse Rules \n\nShoes off inside the house please.  Stylish Japanese uwabaki are available upon request.\nKeep the doors shut so Abner and his buds don’t get out.\nBe gentle with Abner.  He’s not as peppy as he used to be.\n\nFAQ \n\nSpouses/special friends are welcome.\nFriendly pups are welcome too\, but make sure you have eyes on them at all times.\nYou can smoke whatevs in the backyard\, preferably away from the house.  Make sure butts are dead out before putting them in the garbage or fire pit.\nYou are always welcome to bring food and drink\, but it is not required.  If you don’t have anything\, it’s totally fine.  We usually have more than enough.\nFreedom is cool.  Profanity is encouraged.  Knowing when to reign it in is the coolest of all.  Have as much fun as you want\, just not at the expense of others.\nIf you find yourself in a position where even maybe you shouldn’t drive\, let me or a SNAFU officer know so we can help you get home safely.\n\nThanks for reading.  I know\, it was a long one.  See you all Sunday!
